Reality vs. Virtuality

Where is the line between what is real life and what is virtual life? Do you have one? If you post a nice car on Facebook, does that mean that you own one at least in your mind or you just post somebody else's life's fragments to show others you will never live like that? If you download an app to do virtual push-ups, will your belly get 6 pack abs? What is your real life?

Recently I've noticed a lot of people posting a lot of things they don't have, don't own and even don't experience. Smart quotes are another phenomena seen every day on social media shared by people who never live by them. Chances are - they will never own, experience or live by that stuff in their life. Many people are posting those posts all day every day, and still nothing  changes in their lives. So what is the reason of sharing somebody else's life's fragment? And the more important question is where your life between those posts is?

There might be some reasons for that behavior. One of them is to create a beautiful surface others might admire, still the creator is nothing similar to the creation. That doesn't make any sense, doesn't create any value and still done everyday.

Another reason might be that people want to life lives they are sharing, not even realizing that re-posting somebody else's life's fragments is not going to improve their own life. The only way to do that is to shut down computer, stand up and do something that really creates value in your life.

Posting smart quotes all day every day doesn't make you smarter. Only living by those quotes makes your life better. Of course it's easier to post than to live! Choice is yours!

After all this it is very confusing to understand what people's actual lives are. It's fake to show one thing and behave differently. Moreover, it doesn't make any sense. Could it be that the person himself don't even realizes which life is he living? Or maybe it's just simple easier to do nothing while sitting on the social media and re-posting somebody else's life's fragments at the same time creating a fantasy world for yourself?

Have any thoughts? Please share..

Great observation and I feel the same way. I see people posting quotes of healing who need to to embrace them desperately however I know them and yet the very core of the message they just don't get. And there are others who as you say post pictures of things they will never have and even affirm it with statements like I wish or here's the dream car ill never have or any number of statements along those lines

You are right Denise! Virtual space is full of people with not fulfilled dreams trying to fulfill them in virtual life.. But it's not the same!

My thoughts are:
- posting other peoples "accomplishments" (or fragments) is for me a sign of a not started & neither finished "dream poster" creation. Such a poster, I heard, creates action.
- reading & posting positive quotes might be very inspiring and if you´re not used to "hearing" them daily since your family and friends maybe all gave up on life & changes for a better (as an example which is wide spread) programming yourself with this stuff might do miracles. I can tell. I needed a lot of it for a longer period of time until I got the imprint to think that way. Now, I stopped re-posting them and act after it.
It all has 2 sides! :)

I agree with you, Rita, that all this has 2 sides. What I mean is that most people just do all that posts not ever starting to live by them. It's like they do one thing in virtual life and opposite in real life. I totally agree that if you are living by those things, it's a very good thing to share that with other.
